My Profile
About Me
I am an experienced and accredited counsellor with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).I aim to bring a gentle and empathic, but clear thinking approach. I offer a confidential space where anything may be said and what needs to be shared can be, for there is enormous power in expressing what has been repressed or shut down.I believe continuing professional development is important and regularly attend trainings and seminars to extend my knowledge and keep up to date with current thinking.I abide by the BACP Code of Ethics and line with this my work is regularly supervised by a registered and qualified supervisor.
QualificationsMy training has been rigorous and externally accredited. I was awarded the Tunbridge Wells Counselling Centre Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling in 2014 and the Tunbridge Wells Counselling Centre Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling in 2016. I have been counselling individual clients since 2015.

I offer sessions in person in Patcham, Brighton. I also work online (using FaceTime or Teams) and offer telephone counselling. It's possible to use a mixture of these. If you are not sure then we can discuss this further.
My therapy practice
How I WorkThe counselling relationship is central to my work. Each client is unique and what happens in each session is co-created between us. We might touch on some of the following topics:- Events in your past and the sense you made of them
- The story of your childhood and how you were brought up
- Your current ways of relating to others and what these may mean
- Your internal world and how you feel inside
- Dreams and fantasiesBy the process of telling the story issues can be explored within a reliable and confidential setting. I will be listening carefully to what is being said and what is not being said. Occasionally I will offer an interpretation to assist in this process.
Making a startAfter a brief consultation by phone or email; we can arrange an initial meeting, without obligation, where we can explore together whether counselling is right for you, and whether I am the right person for you.I offer weekly 50 minute sessions and although I offer short-term work my preference is to work in open-ended, long term therapy as I believe this is where lasting change and improvements can be found.

How might counselling helpI welcome and work with clients who come to counselling for all kinds of reasons. I believe psychological problems reveal themselves through a number of unwelcome symptoms such as depression and hopelessness, guilt and shame, relationship difficulties, unmanageable levels of anxiety, pervasive feelings of sadness or extreme mood changes. The list is endless but most importantly these symptoms are signs. While challenging they can point the way to the causes of what might be troubling you.
Talking to someone in confidence about your problem can, and often does help. It's an opportunity to really reflect, which can lead to change and unexpected benefits.
